November 11
The Komatsubara Persecution Remembrance Service

As an occasion to remember persecutions endured by Nichiren Shonin for propagating the Lotus Sutra, this service focuses on an assault at Komatsubara (in present Chiba Prefecture) imposed by Tojo Kagenobu and his group on November 11, 1264. It occurred during his homecoming stay to visit his fatherfs grave and see his sick mother after returning from Izu and specifically on his way to visit Kido Yoshitaka, his benefactor and the lord of Amatsu, who had invited him. During the attack, his disciples Kyo-Nin-Bo and Kudo Yoshitaka perished as martyrs while he was injured in the forehead.
