March - Vernal Equinox Week
The Spring Higan Segaki (Feeding the Deceased) Service

Held during a week centering on the Vernal Equinox Day, the service aims to feed the spirits of our ancestors with additional merits. The service was originally devised to exploit this optimal period of equal day and night lengths, which comes around twice a year, to reflect upon a daily lack of diligence and exert ourselves in Buddhist practice. The term eHiganf originates from the Sanskrit word gPāramitāh meaning gto leave the realms of delusions and reach the shore of enlightenmenth.
