May 3-5
The Thousand-Fold Sutra Reciting Ceremony

The ceremony originally refers to 1000 recitals of the Lotus Sutra (comprising 28 chapters) by monks to pray for various subjects, transfer merit to the deceased and offer gratitude to Buddha supports. It can be performed in multiple ways; 1000 monks reading one time, 10 times repeated by 100 chanters or any other way to make a total of 1000 readings. The number can be also reached by accumulating folds over several years. However, the ceremony today is generally held as an extensive sutra and Odaimoku chanting session by numerous attendees. At Minobusan Temple, all its priests congregate to recite the Lotus Sutra, to help pass on merit and fulfil peoplefs wishes.
